We synthesized a near infra-red (NIR) absorbing squaraine dye (<bold>VJ-S</bold>) showing a strong absorption and emission. Photocatalytic activity of <bold>VJ-S</bold>/<bold>r-NGOT</bold> in visible light wavelengths is much higher than that of <bold>r-NGOT</bold> alone.
