Studies on 4-(8-hydroxy-5-quinolylazo)benzenesulfonamides and their metal chelates as potential drugs

Abstract

Some new drugs containing both azo sulfonamide and 8-hydroxyquinoline moieties have been prepared. Some metal chelates with Fe 3+ , Co 2+ , Cu 2+ , Ni 2+ , and Hg 2+ ions have been synthesized and screened in vitro for their antibacterial activity.
