Stability of a spherical double layer produced through ionization

Abstract

The stability conditions of an ionization-produced spherical double layer are analysed on the basis of a criterion discussed recently by Song et al. (1991). The dynamics of an exploding double layer is also investigated. Some experimental evidence is presented, which is generally supportive of the authors' theoretical model.
