Palladium‐Catalyzed CH Activation of<i>tert</i>‐Butyl Groups: A Simple Synthesis of 1,2‐Dihydrocyclobutabenzene Derivatives

Abstract

The tert-butyl group of 1 is surprisingly reactive in the presence of palladium catalysts. A domino coupling affords 1,2-dihydrocyclobutabenzene 2 in good yield (75%). The observed CH activation can also be used for cross coupling reactions.
