Abstract

Abstract Sodium iodate, described in the literature as an antiperovskite, has a coordination structure of sodium and iodate ions in deformed caesium chloride packing. The iodate ions have a pyramidal shape. Ammonium iodate, generally regarded as a true perovskite, very probably has the same structure.
