Infectious Mononucleosis With Pleural Effusion

Abstract

We have described a 10-year-old child in whom a pleural effusion complicated an otherwise typical case of IM. Although rare, pleural effusions are a possible complication of infectious mononucleosis, and IM should be considered in the differential diagnosis of pleural effusions in children.
