Squamous cell carcinoma arising in hidradenitis suppurativum.

Abstract

A case of squamous cell carcinoma arising within chronic perianal hidradenitis suppurativum is reported. The difficulty in establishing the diagnosis as well as a need for an awareness of this complication is stressed. Five previously reported cases of this complication are noted and the possible etiology of this type of carcinoma is discussed.
