Determination of the crystal structure of gold leaf by electron diffraction

Abstract

It is found that the radii of the rings of Debye-Scherrer electron-diffraction photographs obtained from gold leaf are not in exact agreement with the theoretical values. This is ascribed to the crystal lattice being distorted by surface-tension forces.
