The luminescence and photoconductivity of photoconducting phosphors are generally rather complicated nonlinear functions of the exciting intensity, if recombination occurs competitively at two types of centres. Certain properties of several two-centre models have been discussed by earlier investigators, and one model has been examined in detail by Schön. This paper aims at a broader survey of the types of nonlinear behaviour and of the generality of their occurrence with different models.
