Summary The influence of rock wettability on water blocking of oil during miscible displacements is investigated through both laboratory coreflood experiments and numerical simulations. For non-water-wet cores, the amount of oil remaining in the cores depends on solvent throughput. A solvent-throughput-dependent water-blocking function is proposed for a numerical model to account for the slow release of oil.
