Abstract

An example is presented of circularly polarized electroluminescence (CPEL) of a polymer LED which is constructed using a chiral p-conjugated poly(p-phenylenevinylene) (PPV) deriv. as an active layer. The CPEL is a direct consequence of the intrinsic mol. chirality of the conjugated polymer and requires no macroscopic orientation of chromophores as for linear polarized electroluminescence.
