A new model based on products of power and exponential functions (1) relates radioisotope retention to mechanisms: to bone formation, resorption, diffusion and exchange in compact and cancellous bone; (2) represents within 20% most existing microscopic and macroscopic data for stable or radioactive isotopes in normal man; and (3) facilitates calculations of dose to endosteal or marrow cells following any schedule of radioisotope intake by any route.
