In the field of radar electronic surveillance, intrapulse modulation recognition of the intercepted signals is an important intermediate operation between signal detection and demodulation. A simple decision-theoretic approach, based on the properties of the linear regression of time-frequency curve (TFC) of the intercepted signal, is proposed to recognize the common intrapulse modulation of radar signals. The main advantageous of the method is that we simplify the recognition problem to two kinds of statistics tests for the linear regression of the TFC. Computer simulation results show that the performance of the proposed method achieves overall correct recognition rate of 98% at signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)without any a priori knowledge and training data.
