Instrumented flat-headed falling-dart test

Abstract

A description of an instrumented falling dart apparatus is given. The main feature of this equipment is the flat dart with a diameter of 10 mm, which is smaller than most of the normalized dart dimensions for falling weight tests. In this article the properties of the force transducer, especially developed by DSM for this dart, will be described as will the main advantages with respect to larger, hemispherical darts.
