Methods for synthesis of cluster complexes containing triangular arrangements of metal atoms capped by alkylidyne ligands are reported, and such structures confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies on the compounds [FePtW(µ3-CC6H4Me-4)(CO)6(PEt3)(η-C5H5)] and [FeRhW(µ3-CC6H4Me-4)(µ2-CO)(CO)5(η-C5H5)(η-C9H7)].
