Columns and packing methods

Abstract

A lot of research has been done to dev e l o p methods which allowed to reproducibly fill analytical columns. Nowadays, it's no longer a problem to pack efficient columns with a bro a d variety of packing materials and particle sizes. However, from a technical point of view, it's not so easy to fill larger diameter columns using the same technology. Therefore, alternative methods had to be developed. In this contribution an overview is given of the most important technologies w h i ch are now a d ays commerc i a l ly ava i l a ble to pack preparative columns for laboratory and production scale purposes.
