Abstract Injuries of the cervix lead to ectopion and erosion. The alkaline secretion of this ectopic epithelium is irritating. Therepy is directed toward acceleration of the healing process. Caustics, vaginal irrigation, and cautery have given less than desirable results. A simple, inexpensive, painless method not requiring hospitalization or loss of time from work is treatment with the helium neon laser. It stimulates growth of connective tissue and allows epitheliasation to take place. The method and results are discussed.
