Abstract

We present measurements of the low-temperature specific heat of small lead particles and bulk lead. The results on 22- and 37-\AA{} particles show definite enhancements of the specific heat, indicating the presence of additional low-frequency modes. A decrease in the enhancement at low temperatures is interpreted as the first observation of the effect of size on lattice specific heat.
