Summary A pattern to recognize the presence of water encroachment and a reliable method for estimation of reserves in single-well gas reservoirs with edge-waterdrive have been developed from analysis of simulated pressure data. An alternative to the traditional interpretation of boundary effects has emerged as a result. This paper discusses the development of this new methodology and presents field examples of buildup data to demonstrate the applicability of the signature.
