Abstract

The possibility of a new pre-treatment-resin shrink-resist process, based on the application
\nof a dispersion of Hercosett resin and an anionic surfactant to methylamine-pre-treated
\nwool samples, was proposed at the Fifth International Wool Textile Research Conference1.
\nFurther studies on this topic, as well as some attempts to develop new alternative pretreatments,
\nsuch as oxidation with hydrogen peroxide or reduction with thioglycolic acid,
\nhave opened up new possibilities for the process and are described in this letter
