M. ; Callaway, J. ; Kingston, A. E. ; Unnikrishnan, K. Abstract Excitation rate coefficients for transitions among the n = 1, 2, and 3 levels of He(+) are reported in the temperature range of 5000-500,000 K. These are based on the best available R-matrix collision strengths of Aggarwal et al. (1991) in the threshold energy region including resonances and of the pseudostate close coupling calculations of Unnikrishnan et al. (1991) at energies above thresholds. Comparisons with the earlier available effective collision strengths are made and differences are discussed. The present results are believed to be the best available in the entire electron temperature range, although the differences with the earlier published values of Aggarwal et al. are not more than 15 percent at temperatures below 500,000 K except for the 1s-3p transition for which they differ up to 25 percent.
