Nonhomogeneous Thick-Walled Cylinder Under Internal Pressure

Abstract

Certain rigorous solutions are given for stresses and deformations in a thick-walled orthotropic cylinder with mechanical properties varying along the radius. Special a t tent ion is given to the effect of anisotropy and nonhomogenei ty on the distribution of circumferential tensi le stresses, and the type of design which leads to uniform circumferential stresses is indicated. A discussion of the effect of viscoelastic properties of anisotropic propellant grains is presented.
