Dose-dependent neuroprotection by 17β-estradiol after cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Abstract

We conclude that E2 has a critical dosing effect on neuronal survival, physiologic levels of E2 are neuroprotective after cardiac arrest/cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and acute exposure is sufficient for brain resuscitation.
