Thermally stimulated current (TSC) is obtained under a small bias voltage from commercial poly(ethylene terephthalate) films without any previous treatment. A TSC peak appears around 85°C during the initial heating at the heating rate of 0.67°C/min, but no peak can be detected during reheating. Effects of sorbed water and elongation on the TSC peak are discussed. The peak is possibly due to the dipoles made up from several repeat units produced by internal stress introduced in the manufacturing process.
