Abstract

Abstract The catalytic activities of coppers for the conversion of methanol are individually different by their oxidation states. Cu(II) ion and Cu(O) catalyze the dehydrogenation to form methyl formate and formaldehyde, respectively, while Cu(I) ion is inactive.
