Abstract The new coordination compounds trans ‐[Pt(H)X(PPh 3 ) 2 ] with NCN‐ and C(CN) 2 ‐functionalized anions (X − = [N(O)C(CN) 2 ] − , [NO 2 NCN] − , [N{C(CN) 2 } 2 ] − , [NCC{C‐(CN) 2 } 2 ] − , have been characterized by 1 H‐, 31 P‐, 13 C‐NMR, and IR spectroscopy and elemental analyses the crystal structures of trans ‐[Pt(H)N(O)C(CN) 2 (PPh 3 ) 2 ], trans ‐ [Pt(H)N{C(CN) 2 } 2 (PPh 3 ) 2 ], and trans ‐[Pt(H)NCC{C(CN) 2 } 2 ‐(PPh 3 ) 2 ) have been determined by X‐ray diffraction. Remarkably, [N(O)C(CN) 2 ] − is coordinated through the central nitrogen atom, while [N{C(CN) 2 } 2 ] − and [NCC(C(CN) 2 ] 2 ] − are bonded through terminal nitrogen atoms of a C(CN) 2 unit.
