A layered compound, , was obtained from and in a sulfur gas atmosphere at 843 K, and from and in vacuo at 853–1373 K. The ac, ionic, and electronic conductivities and the thermoelectromotive forces of the products were measured under a purified helium gas atmosphere at 300–573 K and at 77.4–700 K, respectiyely. The compound was an n‐type mixed ionic conductor, whereas and were an electronic p‐type semiconductor. A conduction mechanism was proposed for and .
