Delayed hypersensitivity was correlated with the response of the tumor to irradiation in 54 patients. Twenty-four had an excellent radiation response; of these, 23 (96%) were positive to dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB). Of 19 patients with head and neck tumors who demonstrated an excellent radiation response, 18 (95%) were DNCB-positive, suggesting a positive correlation between delayed hypersensitivity and tumor regression after radiotherapy.
