This article describes responses and interventions to transitions in health status for HIV asymptomatic clients in support groups. Two case illustrations are presented to illustrate escalating psychological distress in group members after experiencing HIV symptomatology through a group member. In addition, techniques to facilitate group adjustment are identified.
