The method of accentuation of the time $$trend^{2}$$ of sedimentation has been described. This method is based on the arithmetized bed compositions with range numbers and smoothing of these range-number successions by means of a special process. The method can be used for correlation of non-fossiliferous finely-stratified sedimentary deposits. The stability of trend function and its peculiarities in different facial environments have been investigated. Trial has been made to give comprehensive examples of the applications of this method for the correlation of sedimentary sections investigated in the Crimea, Caucasus, Turkmenia, and Ural (Orenburg district) in different geological situations. The description and examples are accompanied by computational schemes and practical advice permitting the use of the paper as an instrument for investigation.
