Abstract

EPR and magnetic-susceptibility studies of TTF-TCNQ indicate that in the temperature region $T\ensuremath{\gtrsim}60\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}$ K this compound consists of a metallic ${(\mathrm{TTF})}^{+}$ chain and a ${(\mathrm{TCNQ})}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ chain with localized spins. The metal-insulator transition at \ensuremath{\sim} 60\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}K is accompanied by a strong interchain interaction.
