Summary A method is proposed to estimate the minimum miscibility pressure (MMP), pmm, of a vaporizing gas drive with a lean hydrocarbon gas on the basis of the thermodynamic properties of the displacing and displaced fluids. The determination of pmm is based on the phase behavior of the system of fluids considered. Thermodynamic criteria have been set forth for the case of ternary systems. The method is very easy to use and is intended for the case of a vaporizing gas drive by a very lean hydrocarbon gas—i.e., composed principally of methane.
