Abstract

Summary Two patients with actinomycosis of the uterine adnexa are described. At the time symptoms developed one patient had a copper intrauterine contraceptive device in situ while the other had recently had a Lippes loop removed. Neither patient showed evidence of spread of infection from a lesion of bowel. It is suggested that the intrauterine devices may have played a part in the pathogenesis of the disease.
