Effects of Octreotide on Esophageal Visceral Perception and Cerebral Evoked Potentials Induced by Balloon Distension

Abstract

Octreotide significantly increased esophageal perception thresholds to balloon distension. It did not alter pain thresholds, nor were cortical evoked potentials to painful stimulation altered in normal subjects.
