Four of five patients with the benign syndrome of posttraumatic transient cerebral blindness were found to have migraine or seizure diatheses. All four were in the early adolescent age group (9 to 15 years old), and three had the typical variety of the syndrome that is seen in this group, with a delay of many minutes to hours between the trauma and the onset of the blindness. The association with migraine and seizures suggests that vasomotor and neuronal instability may be important factors in the pathogenesis of the syndrome.
