The capacity of modern CAD (computer-aided design) packages for applications in electrical engineering and accelerator physics is demonstrated by a set of examples. The authors consider problems in the frequency domain for eigenmode and wave propagation problems. Numerical modeling in 2-D and 3-D of novel structures using the eigenvalue solver of the described CAD package has been shown to be quite accurate. The agreement with measurements and, where possible, with calculations using other methods is demonstrated.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
