Abstract

This contribution describes the synthesis and polymerization characteristics of the covalently linked heterobinuclear constrained-geometry polymerization catalyst (μ-CH2CH2-3,3‘){(η5-indenyl)[1-Me2Si(tBuN)](TiMe2)}{(η5-indenyl)[1-Me2Si(tBuN)](ZrMe2)} (Ti1Zr1). When activated with Ph3C+B(C6F5)-4, itis competent to produce long-chain (≥C6) branched polyethylenes in ethylene homopolymerization, in sharp contrast to control experiments with mixtures of analogous but mononuclear Zr and Ti CGC catalysts.
