The theory of Zimm for the viscoelastic properties of dilute polymer solutions is expanded into a more general treatment containing both the theories of Rouse and Zimm as limiting cases. This treatment predicts a transition from Zimm-like to Rouse-like behavior with changing hydrodynamic interaction. Values of Flory's Φ as a function of the hydrodynamic interaction parameter h are tabulated.
