Cigarette smoke inhibits macrophage sensing of Gram‐negative bacteria and lipopolysaccharide: relative roles of nicotine and oxidant stress

Abstract

We suggest that cigarette smoke exerts its immunosuppressive effects through an oxidant-dependent and not a nicotine-dependent mechanism.
