Spectral Sensitization of ZnO Film Electrodes by the J‐Aggregate of Cyanine Dyes

Abstract

Abstract Magnetron sputtered ZnO film electrodes were sensitized to visible light by using the J‐aggregates of four cyanine dyes. Both the sensitized anodic and cathodic photocurrents are observed but the magnitude of them considerably changes according to the kind of dyes employed. The action spectra of both photocurrents are fairly in accord with each other, not to speak of a distinct J‐band. Characteristics of carrier injection from the J‐aggregates are discussed.
