CH2-Species as important precursors for hydrocarbon formation on cobalt catalysts

Abstract

CH2-Species were formed on a cobalt catalyst by the Boudouard reaction or by the decomposition of methane; hydrogenation yielded methane as well as α-Olefins, while the hydrogenation of carbidic carbon yielded merely methane.
