Ultrafilterable hypomagnesemia is a common finding in neonates admitted to the ICU. Ultrafilterable hypomagnesemia is associated with the need for mechanical ventilation. To our knowledge, this is the first report of ultrafilterable magnesium concentrations in normal and sick neonates.
