Abstract

Surface modification such as permanent hydrophilization and/or permanent introduction of charges to membrane surfaces can help to reduce irreversible fouling in certain applications. In this work two examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of modification with polyelectrolyte complex layers on the separation and filtration properties, and on the fouling behavior of polyamide-PV-membranes and polypropylene-MF-membranes.
