A Nonlinear Problem in Age-Dependent Population Diffusion

Abstract

A nonlinear partial differential equation arising in a model of age-dependent population diffusion with random dispersal is analysed. Using the nonlinear parabolic equation satisfied by the spatial structure and a delay to handle nonlinearities we derive existence results; in simple situations we outline the asymptotic behaviour.
