A New Prior Distribution for Attributes Sampling

Abstract

Abstract A new prior distribution for the fraction defective of a batch is derived based on a model of a normally distributed quality characteristic, whose mean has a normal prior distribution. This distribution has practical significances and has certain advantages over the commonly adopted beta distribution. Asymptotic single attributes sampling plans using the new prior distribution are studied and are compared with those using a beta prior distribution.
