Abstract

A one-space-dimension, energy-flow computing method for use on high-speed electronic dataprocessing machines is described. The procedure allows one to follow, for many points of fixed mass, the time variations of temperature, density, pressure, and other material properties due to the flow of energy by radiation, conduction, convection, and by hydrodynamic processes. Detailed data on equations of state, opacity, conductivity, and energy generation can be used in conjunction with the energy-flow equations . The techniques described are applicable to problems of stellar interiors ranging from stellar pulsation to static stellar models and their evolution.
