The nine L subshell radiative and nonradiative de-excitation probabilities, ω i and f ij , have been determined for the atom Yb (Z = 70) by conversion electron–X-ray coincidence measurements. The results are in good agreement with theoretical values calculated by McGuire using a simple approximation to the Herman–Skillman potential.
