On the inner automorphisms of finite transformation semigroups

Abstract

If the group of inner automorphisms of a semigroup S of transformations of a finite n -element set contains an isomorphic copy of the alternating group Alt n , then S is an S n -normal semigroup and all the automorphisms of S are inner.
