A fast, sensitive capillary electrophoresis (CE) method using UV detection was developed for the analysis of trace levels of carbovir triphosphate, which is an anti-HIV metabolite; deoxyriboguanosine triphosphate; and deoxyriboadenosine triphosphate. Conditions were optimized for the analysis using whole capillary stacking that increased the sensitivity of the method over previously reported CE methods. The stacking lowered the detection limit from 4 to 0.02 μM. The method was reproducible, inexpensive, and easy to perform on equipment readily available in most laboratories. The total analysis time was under 30 min. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Micro Sep 10: 65–73, 1998
