Abstract

In this paper, the design method of a novel 12/14 bearingless permanent magnet biased switched reluctance motor (SRM) is investigated. The proposed bearingless SRM has good performances such as self-decoupling and low copper loss. Thus, basic structure and principle are firstly introduced. In order to discuss the structure parameters' selection, the equivalent magnetic circuits of the permanent magnet bias and the electromagnetic magnetic fields are modeled. In addition, the variation effect of structure parameters on the performance is studied. Finally, a design example is given with proposed design method, and FEM is used to verify the proposed structure's validity.
